Column Arts Agency Project Type:
What Do They Do:
Immediate Media, formally called BBC Magazines, Origin Publishing and Magicalia, publish a large range of magazines, including the Top Gear, BBC Good Food and Radio Times.
Column Arts Agency were asked to create two sets of spot illustrations, which showed how to tie knots and create a periscope out of a milk carton, a double page spread that depicted the inside of a scout hut and two front covers for Get Active and Instant Scouting, which are inserts for Scouting magazine.
The Column Arts Agency illustrators succeeded in producing incredible work that fitted both the brief and suited the magazines’ audience – Scout leaders.
‘Scouting’ has a readership of 111,000 mainly based in the UK, so you can see why everyone at the arts agency is so excited about this project! It is a 68-page magazine while Get Active and Instant Scouting are included in it as a 32-page supplements.
The project was completed within the deadline and the client was chuffed to bits with the illustrations.
Immediate Project Manager Ian Ochiltree said: “Column Arts Agency pulled it out of the bag for us again…
“We put a fair amount of work their way at pretty short notice and it was dealt with swiftly and intelligently. We were in touch through the crucial stages of the design and Column were quick to deal with any requests throughout.
“Our client is particularly pleased with Hassan’s work on the front cover of Get Active, which they feel – on just it’s second issue – has fully found it’s feet and identity. It was a bold statement that really paid off and exceeded all expectations.
“Thanks Column, we will definitely be using you again!”
Column Arts Agency founder William Astbury, said: “We’re delighted with what Trou and Mr Hass have achieved on this project.
“They both created wonderful work and went above and beyond to reach our deadlines.
“We’re also really pleased to work with Immediate again and look forward to working with them again in the future.”
