Column Arts Agency Project Type:
What Do They Do:
Immediate Media, formally called BBC Magazines, Origin Publishing and Magicalia, publish a wide range of top-quality magazines, which include the likes of Radio Times, BBC Good Food and Top Gear to name but a few.
Immediate chose Column artist Mr Hass, aka Hassan Torossian of SuperCrafts Studio Workshop, to create a front cover for ‘Get Active’, two series of spot illustrations (lead-ins) and a double page spread all within a pretty tight deadline.
Mr Hass rose to the challenge producing some absolutely incredible work that fitted both the brief and suited the magazines’ audience – Scout leaders.
‘Scouting’ has a readership of 111,000 mainly based in the UK, so you can see why everyone at the arts agency is so excited about this project! It is a 68-page magazine and ‘Get Active’ is included in it as a 32-page supplement.
It’s great to see that Column’s work is getting out there.
Praising Column Arts Agency and Mr Hass, Immediate Media’s Group Art Editor Will Slater said: “We’re delighted with the illustrations we commissioned through Column.
“Column listened to our needs, understood the project and recommended the right illustrators for the job.
“We were kept in the loop and provided with rough sketches, so we were always assured we were in safe hands.
“Hassan Torossian’s illustrations look fantastic and are spot on for the subject matter. He has understood the brief and delivered beyond our expectations. The client loves it too… Which is nice!”
Equally delighted, Mr Hass added: “When word of the Scouts commission first came through from Column, it was a real attention grabber.
“This type of work is well suited for the SuperCrafts studio, and to do a cluster of briefed illustrations was a great opportunity to showcase what can be done.
“Column handled the role of establishing terms, conditions, debriefing and relaying artwork and revisions back and forth. With those aspects covered, the studio could focus on the task at hand, and do that to the best possible standard. This has definitely been one of the best working arrangements in recent times, and hopefully one that the studio will see more of in the future.
“A hefty thanks to Column for your involvement, top stuff.”
